3.03 Carolina Convicts — WR Danny Coale

In the real world: The 6'0", 198 lb. Coale was productive at Virginia Tech, and went to the Cowboys in Round 5. Todd McShay sees someone who could produce as a #2 or #3 WR for 12 years. After Dallas drafted him, McShay added, "Coale will push for playing time as the slot receiver ... He's a tough competitor with good ball skills, and with his willingness to make tough catches over the middle, Coale could quickly develop a rapport with QB Tony Romo." Kevin Weidl also says Coale will be in the NFL for a long time.
In the TUFF world: Carolina's looking for more depth at wide receiver, and this is a good pick in that regard (assuming that McShay and Weidl are accurate in their assessments). But I would not have passed up handcuff QB Nick Foles, who was one of the draft's higher-rated QBs and has landed in a "developmental prospect/heir apparent" situation in Philadelphia.
